John Bunyan, the author of the Christian Classic "Pilgrims Progress", said this, "No fear, no grace. Though there is not always grace where there is fear of hell, yet, to be sure, there is no grace where there is no fear of God. For the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and they that lack the beginning have neither middle nor end."
I thought when reading this about how quick so many preachers are to tell sinners about the grace of God when they have no fear of God! As John Fletcher said, "should I comfort those who do not mourn?" Some preachers are too quick and too willing to hand out pardons to sinners who do not mourn over their crimes!
As Ray Comfort, whom I believe to be the greatest evangelism teachers of our day, says, "Preach Law to the proud and grace to the humble. For God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble."
A. W. Tozer said, "The man who is seriously convinced that he deserves hell is not likely to go there, while the man who believes that he is worthy of heaven will certainly never enter that blessed place."

Your mockery is doing nothing but adding oil to the slide you are on to hell. You have been mocking God on these boards for a long time.
You need to stop it. You need to submit and surrender to God. Fighting against God is always a losing battle.

Not just on the boards! What do ya take me for?! I mock god in real life, especially in front of children =D.
So was the revolutionary war, but the americans kept fighting, and they won.
So long as I have a few frenchmen on my side, I'll win =D.

Why do you mock the invisible pink unicorn? That's right; because she doesn't exist. There's no harm done.

The words of these men are like an oil which keeps alive the light from a lamp, gives luster to leather, and which soothes dryness

If you do not believe that God exists, abb, then are you not at least afraid that by attacking our beliefs, you are being intolerant, closed minded, unjust, and immoral by some standard?
Has this man ever done anything to hurt you with the intention of hurting you? Has he done it in the name of God? If so, I pray you do not take that to be the will of every Christian. Most of us simply want to inform you, let you make your own decision, and hope that you have a wonderful and prosperous life. To mock someone who fears for you and cares about you is a sin against any moral standard, Godly or not. To mock someone because someone like them hurt you is just sad.
I propose that you take up the sword against those who have taken it up against you, and leave us and our "crazy" beliefs be to defend yourself against your true enemies.

Jesse,
One small bone to pick with your original post. Are preachers ever qualified to hand out pardons for sins? I was under the impression that in the Christian religion, forgiveness for sins can only come through Jesus rather than through man. It seems that suggesting a preacher is able to pardon a person would be an act of hubris and an attempt to take what rightfully belongs to God.

One prblem I see with many of the streetoreacher posts is they are forever quoting Calvin, Spurgeon and Edwards or whoever to back up their beliefs. It gets to the point where they praise these men or so it seems, like real life blood kin to Christ. They are in fact, just men and as such expressing opinion, like anyone else. Their word cannot be taken as "gospel" to make a bad pun. , I think for example that Edwards and his Sinners In the Hands Of Angry God approach went out with the era of powdered wigs and just doesn't work on a modern audience, aalthough the streetpreachers seem bent on carrying on with his styl;e. These people you constantly quote are men and as such, their beliefs are simply beliefs and quite debatable. Just because Edwatds said this, Calvin said this, Comfort said this and so on, does not make it so.. For people who seem to emphasize putting stock only on Jesus, you quote from mortal men quite often. A nonchristian such as myself sees this as quite a paradox.
