I was talking to someone recently about holiness and how it is essential to salvation. The following was said to me:
"just because we fail sometimes does not mean we are not saved"
how would you reply to that?
Jesus said whoever sins is a slave to sin and the truth would make us free, In 1 John 3 it says that whoever practices sin is a son of the devil. So I personally would think that yes it does mean you are not saved on the grounds that all sin is willful not just an accident. It is rebellion against God. I know something similar has been discussed before but how would you reply to this statement?

I would say, if you sin you must repent or else you will perish.

Yes...
The man who led me to Jesus is of the opinion that a Believer is to repent, not "when" he/she sins, but "if" he/she sins.
I like that, because it's Biblical.

Haha, I would just like to point out how boring this message board would be without the "hecklers." It's just like Trekker said... all of your discussions go like this...
"Hey guys. Someone said this to me the other day and I disagree with it. What do you guys think?" "Yeah I disagree as well." "Yeah me too." "Thanks guys, as I said, I also disagree with this. I'm glad you guys disagree too. Cheers!"
Hahahahahaha even if you don't like us at least we make things interesting! XD

Yes it is a bit of a challenge to try to teach people the obvious who refuse to hear. Things like men are supposed to be with women, women are supposed to be with men, the purpose of the male reproductive organ, it is bad to smoke marijuana, it is bad to get drunk, it is wrong to murder babies, don't wear underwear when you go outside, having an orgasm is not the highest attainment in life, etc.

*POST IS IGNORED* Heehee oh well! WAHOO!!! *runs around outside naked* Wow, I never knew Christianity endorsed THIS! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Orgasm does not = highest attainment in life Orgasm + experiencing said orgasm with the one person you love above all others + sharing a long and fulfilling life of happy memories and experiences with said person = HIGHEST ATTAINMENT IN LIFE. ... or so they tell me. *pouts at singledom* *runs away yelling "REPENT!!!!!!!!!"*

don't wear underwear when you go outside Micha...have you been walking around in the nuddy-pants? I think you need to repent of this sin. Unless this is a new book of the Bible that I am unaware of.

Morluna and Valentine, I suppose your true colors are shining thorugh again. I was thinking that the two of you were starting to become a bit more tasteful and respectful in your posts, I see that is not the case. You still have yet to repent. *sighs* I would SO love to move on to saying something else to you two, but until you repent from your sins and wickedness, you will perish, and God's judgment fall on you. Get mad all you want....lack of humility is certainly not going to get you to repentance. It is GOd's kindness that leads us to repentance, but you first have ot be AWARE of your sin. You two seem oblivious. And I am beginning to think you are both goats.

LOOK. Micah SAID it was against the law of God to wear underwear outside... I'm just trying to do the moral thing... *is standing on the sidewalk, still naked, in accordance with God's law*
*laughs* I'm sorry... I'm sorry... But Thumper has just got me on my last string of sanity with this board, and I couldn't help the silliness. It wasn't directed against you personally. You've been rather nice to me in comparison with some of the others... respectful at least. I thank you for that.
I just don't understand how you guys can find this kind of so called "debate" stimulating. You all just sit in this sub forum congratulating each other on thinking the exact same way. Admit it, if we (the "hecklers")weren't here, this discussion board would be overwhelmingly BORING.

But Thumper has just got me on my last string of sanity with this board, and I couldn't help the silliness. It wasn't directed against you really. Admit it, if we (the "hecklers")weren't here, this discussion board would be overwhelmingly BORING. see my new thread about this - your being in this section is not doing anything but detracting from quality discussion among believers. Unless you have a question, I personally think you should stick to reading in this section and find out what we believe and why. And save the silliness (which is OK in small doses) to the world view debating thread. thanks...

Yes, Morluna do not go out in public wearing clothes that look like underwear. Save that for your husband in the bedroom on your wedding night.
You heathens don't want to understand what it means to dress modestly so I have to make it simple for you.

I didn't ask it to start a debate, I asked it to hopefully learn something. I thought this part of the boards is only for people who are Christians anyway.

Look, Valentine, Morluna, you are trolls that add nothing to this board. You flaunt your sin, anger God and blaspheme and are ignorant to the Bible that you so blatently say is wrong. Ever word in that book, from Genesis Chapter 1, to Revelation chapter 22 is God breathed and IFALLIBLE.
Your filthy, dirty, licentious way of life has no appeal to true Christians. You are a sinner that deserves hell, you know it and we know it. You flaunt you advocation of homosexuals, and the very construction (yes construction, we were created) of the human body calls you out and screams straight sex. Jesus can make crooked paths STRAIGHT!
REPENT of your direlect way of life that has put you on the path to hell. REPENT and trust in the saviour. Jesus can save you, but you have to believe him.

ocassional sin? i think it depends on your definition. i am agnostic, but the only sin that i am aware of that is debated in christian theology is habitual sin. in other words, christians that excuse routine sins by praying for forgiveness, i.e. "god forgive me for getting drunk tonight. amen" and then doing it again the next night, praying, then doing it again, etc, etc. all other sins can be forgiven, except blasphemy of the holy spirit.

Now THAT is on the nail. Possibly you should consider Jesus since He's given you a little taste of His Word. Repent, get right with God and come to Jesus!
