To improve the quality of discussions in this thread I thought it wise to establish some rules or guidelines for debating.
1. As has been already established, to debate in the "Doctrine and Theology" section a person must recognize the bible as the inspired Word of God. If this is not recognized, discussions on theological issues are futile.
2. No false attacks upon someone's character or walk with God. Since this is the doctrine and theology section, arguments should be made from scripture without ad hominem attacks.
Different denominations and professing Christian groups can participate in these debates. Even false doctrines can be discussed so that the opportunity to refute them with scripture is possible. Doctrines must be either promoted or refuted from the scriptures.
- If you propose a doctrine, propose it from the scriptures.
- If you refute or defend a doctrine, refute or defend it from the scriptures.
- Do not attack the person of someone who opposes your doctrine, refute their arguments from scripture.

Yes, I agree Jesse. :-) This is the only way Christian debate should be carried out. We should do it in a loving, brotherly fashion, recognizing that everyone here has also put their faith in God and in His Son and have repented and baptized IN Christ: hence "Born again". (Shedding our old man, and becoming a new one IN Christ.) Born of God through our faith in His Son Jesus Christ and DOING all that God commands us through His Son. Remembering that we are debating with OUR FELLOW BROTHERS in Christ. While we can judge doctrine, we are not to be judging one another or condemning others. God will judge through His Son in the future. Jesus commanded us to love one another the way he loved us. He layed down his life for us. Hence "the Lamb of God".
