Good for Iowa, but they picked the wrong house to send the camera crew to. My eyes burn...
Anyway, hopefully this will help usher in a more tolerant and understanding time for the rest of the country. At the very least, Iowa has two years, and I'm willing to bet this will stay for quite a while longer than that.

What is a fundie? Is this some cool liberal slang? How many atheist are on this Christian board anyway? If you do not believe in God, why do you spend time on these boards? I do not believe in Hinduism, so I do not spend my free time on Hindu message boards. I do not know what you are trying to accomplish on here.
If God calls us to share the Gospel with all the world, then we know why we do what we do, but my question to you who have no faith in anything but your own mind is this, who sends you into all the world to denounce the Gospel? Is there some atheist pope or something? Honestly, how much strength does it take to be Satan's lackey? Have some inner strength and fight him off, don't be so easily controlled by this fool!

Fundamentalist Christians. People who take the bible literally, if I'm understanding the word.
Kureji, Val, Me, & I still refuse to believe Dale has left for good (if he actually was an atheist...). Plus the occasional troll Jesse or Micah really got to.
For me, it's the same reason I haunt PETA's board. I find some of the more radical members amusing.
Perhaps you should. It's an alternative to your message, and may give you a new outlook on things. At the very least, learning new stuff is good.
I'm here for amusement. Perhaps to have the existence of God proven. Dunno. Nobody's really taken my request to schedule a lunch meeting with Jesus seriously. All-powerful beings should be able to send avatars anywhere, in my opinion.
I've never seen God or Satan, nor an atheist pope. Everybody does their thing their way. Sorta like Christians in that regard. Some preach fire & judgment, others love and compassion, and still others live and let live, no two seeing the same way.
You're controlled by a two thousand year old book and a creator you have never seen. I do what I think is right, and attempting to force your values on others through the legal system does not fit my concept of right. If they believed, they wouldn't be gay. Since they're going to hell anyway (so you think), might as well let them marry since it's not going to change the final destination. Allow them happiness.

Thats interesting, you say you don't go to hindu boards because you don't believe in hindu. Though, if you're one of the street preachers (forgive me if you're not I lose track of who is active crazies and who are just vanilla stay at home crazies) if you're a street preacher, and you were at a campus that had a large crowd of hindus would you not preach to them?
I'm pretty sure you would, unless you have something against hindus and think them unable to be saved.
You come to our campuses, our gathering spot, to preach at us. So in return we come to your message board which is your gathering spot.
As to why I come here... well it has to do I'm pretty sure with why the street preachers go out there. Sure sure, they say it's to save people, and I don't doubt that, it's an underlying statement to that...
People want to be right, the number one urge that humans have is wanting to prove they are right. It's why so many people fight over things like religion and get so in to it. Now I know that I'm not going to get through to almost any of you fundies, and honestly it doesn't bother me one bit. Though, sometimes I just get in the urge to debate about it, or nitpick the holes in your arguement. That's usually why I come here to post. Either that, or to just laugh at some of the ridiculous things some of you guys talk about.
PS: BTW, sorry if this is not worded the best, I'm quite tired and fear I might be running around ideas in an unorganized manor. PPS: lol gay marriage actually passed in iowa? wouldn't have expected that.

I've worked with a few from time to time and they've mostly been some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Comes from being despised, I think, and a desire to be better, but either way it says plainly in the book 'thou shalt not' on this. They may believe in 'a' god, but not the fundamentalist one.
You sir, need to hang out at the PETA forum. They delete your accounts if you say something they disagree with, but militant vegans are worth it, IMO.

There is no such thing as a gay Christian. This gay marriage bill you are wanting to see get voted in will never happen. The majority of voting Americans will always vote no. You talk about us pushing our beliefs on you, why do you demand we back gay marriage? Same sex marriage will never be legal in every state. You want same-sex marriage, then vote for it when it is on your states ballot. In the mean time, you are in the minority on this.

You want same-sex marriage, then vote for it when it is on your states ballot. In the mean time, you are in the minority on this. Um, did you read the article? There's no bill. The supreme court struck down the law banning gay marriage (unanimously, might I add, while also emphasizing in their ruling that religion has no place in government). It's already happened, peaches. Gay marriage is legal in the state of Iowa. If you'd so much as read the title of the article, you would have known that. I know fundies aren't so much into literacy, but really now. I'm not demanding anything, but the supreme court sure is, so I suggest you take it up with them. ;D There is nothing you can do about it because to pass a constitutional amendment in Iowa requires approval by both houses of congress in two consecutive sessions. The earliest that can happen is 2012, and democrats control both houses, so even then, it's highly unlikely. I for one am happy that "the people" will never get their "vote." If "the people" had their way, blacks would still be slaves in many states. As to SSM never being legal everywhere, this statistician begs to differ, and he accurately predicted the outcome of Prop 8 to the tenth of a percentage point, as well as the outcome of the 2008 presidential election in every state. @christiansoldier: I have an English degree. I suggest you "lern 2 sarcasm."

"Lern 2 get a life" Oh, okay, I get it now: 1.) You have no argument 2.) Therefore you will use ridiculous, cliched insults in hopes I will forget #1. Have fun with that. For the curious, I have two very rewarding jobs and am a doctoral candidate in neurobiology. I also weigh 103 pounds. PS, I'm not Dale.

No, you are not Dale. That would be an insult to Dale. I can read by the way. I am 13 and I will be starting college in Sept. But, I guess you were accepted into college when you were 8, am I right? 103 lbs! Wow! I bet your mom is soooo proud! Is that sarcastic enough? For someone who works two jobs, you sure have a lot of time for this board.
Bring back Dale! At least he was clever.

No more comparing e-peen, ok?
Unfortunately, this is so. I see that confederate flag far too many times per day.
I'm trying to remember the quote exactly, but there was an interesting one that basically said if rights were to be something more than a sham, then the majority should never have a say in the rights of a minority. Had a war over slavery, Japanese internment camps, and gays still can't marry most places. For whatever reason, the majority has always been good at stepping on the little guys.

Wow, you just took this thread to an all new level of shame that I haven't seen from the Christians on this board in quite a while. I wish I could make untrue, and more importantly completely unrelated to the discussion, statements about people I was debating with as well as you do. BTW for the record: from the few conversations off of the board I've had with val she seems quite busy with school and is by no means over weight. PS: lurk is forum lingo for visiting a message board, reading the threads and not posting. People seem to suggest to "lurk moar" (yes i purposely spelt that incorrectly) to people who don't seem to understand a general principal that is understood by the general population of the message board.

I wouldn't say I'm atheist, but I am an "apathetic agnostic theist" (that is an actual definition, I had to research my beliefs for one of my college classes). As for why I'm here, I was first drawn here by Miles Lewis when he and a few preachers visited my college campus my Freshman year. Since then, he and I have developed a friendship even though our views are radically different. But I come here because it entertains me and gives me a good religious debate every now and then... it keeps me sharp and on my toes... and as a journalist, I love seeing opposing viewpoints from my own, it helps keep me unbiased.

however your mockery of people (about weight and the like) is unworthy of a christian. I hope you will reconsider the way how you represent the Lord...

thanks debonnaire. But they constantly mock God.....I cannot stand it, I was not mocking people, i was simply guessing valentine was that kind of person.
I am Deleting my self now, I think this is the best timing, Seeing as Today is the start of my spring break, I would like to use this week of free time to tract and read the bible (maybe finish that book I'm half way through) And not use my free time to argue with people whom there is no hope for. Goodbye fellow brothers in Christ.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/07/AR2009040701663.htmlLet me point out the important part for those like Christiansoldier who read gud: The final vote was 100 to 49 to override the governor's veto. The initial vote last week was 94 to 52. Vermont has no mechanism for a citizen referendum to override the law. Once more, with feeling: Vermont has no mechanism for a citizen referendum to override the law. [/i][/u] OAO, will you be having your humble pie served with a fork or a spoon? ;D ;D ;D

Two states in less than a week? I don't exactly keep up with news in Vermont, but wow...I did not imagine that another state would come around in so short a period of time. I hope the activists keep their momentum going. Two states change like this and others might hop on the bandwagon.
Val... What is the OAO? I must've missed that particular acronym somewhere.
