I arrived at the pit near 1:15pm and the good news was that only one student group had reserved the area, unfortunately they were blasting worldly music that could be heard all around the area. There were several students already sitting in the area and as I began preaching they did not take long to ask questions and object to my message of repentance. I noticed that within minutes the student group had stopped playing their worldly music. Soon a crowd of 50 or so gathered and they were listening calmly and asking questions. A man who was recording asked me to preach a little about my views on homosexuality for his documentary.
An older man with very long who gave the impression of being a professor would ask interesting questions that were basically irrelevant to the preaching. The crowd progressively built up more and fluctuated between 50 and 150 while I preached. I was able to preach straight forward with very little heckling and not many were asking sincere questions. I was planning to preach with Brother Micah here today, and he arrived at the Pit shortly after I began preaching, I stepped down and he took over the crowd at 2:30.
A young man who attends Wake Forest University followed me to the side where we had a long discussion about victoriously living free from sin by the grace of God. Brother Micah preached hard from 2:30 to 3:30, and then handed the crowd back over to me. The students began to ask more questions and seemed very engaged as I preached for the next half hour. At one point the Holy Ghost convicted a female student so sharply and I even saw her countenance change. she said she was a Christian, but what I was preaching made her feel guilty. She went to the side to talk to the Armstrong’s almost in tears. Praise God!
I stopped preaching at 4pm, then fellowshipped off campus over lunch with the Armstrong’s.

I rode up today from Greenville NC with Brother Pat O’Connell, and we arrived at the Pit at 12:03pm. There were many students around, music was being blasted from one of the two (the max) groups already in the pit. After talking to them and finding out they would be there until 2pm we decided to preach just outside the pit on a ledge.
Pat kicked off the preaching, and slowly but surely students came to listen and ask questions. He preached to crowds of about10 - 15 then handed it over to me around 12:45.
I stood up on the ledge and began preaching and condemning sin. Soon people began to heckle and a man dressed up in a drink can costume began dancing in front of me. As more students began to gather I stepped down from the ledge and began preaching to the ones gathered. A whorish female student began attempting to rub her body against mine while dancing; she was with the group in the pit promoting a dance marathon.
As the crowd increased to about 30 students, I noticed they all were listening well, were not rudely interrupting me, and seemed open to my answers to their questions. A very vocal young man in a fraternity who professed to be a Christian, who also openly admitted to be living in sin, seemed to be silenced and convicted after I explained that Christians are expected to obey God. Luke 6:46, Matt. 5:48, 7:21, 1John 5:3.
I preached for about 45 minutes then handed the crowd over to a brother by the name of William who lives in the Durham area. I had discussions with small groups of students while William preached, including a discussion with a female student who asked some interesting questions and was open to the preaching and the Gospel. Unfortunately she was raised in a lukewarm religious household and apparently doesn’t know what it really means to walk with Christ.
It began to rain at about 2:30 and William preached until about 2:45pm. Pat, William and I talked to small groups of students until we left the campus at 3:30pm. We then fellowshipped over lunch nearby off campus.
