So, My brother and I as well as two friends from the Bible college (Patrick and Jeremy) went off to Huntington Beach on Saturday. When we got there Ray Comfort was Open Air Preaching. I am really sad because I can never hear him very well (I am partially deaf) but he had a good size crowd. There was a festival celebrating rubber ducks (?!?!?!) so there were a ton of people on the pier. I was able to speak to a lot of Catholics and correct their understanding of what repentance and being born again is scripturally. I spoke to two guy who were a little tipsy named Rudy and "Sin"clair. Rudy said that he used to be a Christian but he could not understand how "good" people could go to hell. I corrected his understanding of good using the law. Sinclair claimed that he was a Christian and that he could sin all he wanted as long as he asked for forgiveness at the end of the day. It was a difficult conversation because they were a little rowdy and I think they were excited that a girl (me) was talking to them . The best conversation of the night was with three girls named Sarah, Jaquelyn and Nichol. They all had a Christian background and believed that they could just be forgiven of their sin. It was a great conversation because I got to explain that if God just forgave sins he would be an unjust God. It would be like a judge forgiving a rapist/murderer and letting them go. I explained to them that the law had to be satisfied through punishment. It took a lot of patience to explain to them the seriousness of their sin (using the law) and how the deserve hell but after that I was able to explain that Christ fulfilled the law by taking the wrath (our punishment) of God upon himself. They suddenly understood why God could not just forgive and they understood the importance of the cross. I was then able to speak about how Christ defeated sin and death through his resurrection so that they will no longer need to be in bondage to sin but that they could take off the shackles of sin and become salves of righteousness. Nichol was scoffing and Jaquelyn seemed to be making a joke of it but Sarah seemed to have a light bulb go off in her head as God gave her understanding. We ended the day with Abe (my brother) and Patrick speaking to a Muslim man from Jerusalem! Please pray for the souls that heard the gospel on Saturday. The bad part was that Abe and I got sunburned! It is probably the third or fourth time I have been burned in my life and it was on my face ! Other than that I have been chillin' at the college trying to find a wireless connection and reading a lot. I start work on Thursday in the housekeeping department. Pray for Abe and I as we spend the summer preaching the gospel in SoCal (Southern California).
Adios!
