I am not married but in that case my gorgeous and extremely Godly wife(I can dream can't I lol) would have to obey God, rather than man, if the Spirit leads, follow.

Sounds like someone's lustin for a beauty!! Of course, saying it's a dream would have been my excuse, but now that I've seen the light from OA, I know now the truth of how all my thoughts are wrong.

I am not married, but God will provide an evangelist husband soon and yes most definitely we will both be open air preaching.People ought to obey God rather than men.So if God leads someone they should preach because we should love him far above a spouse.

I heard that his wife once pulled him out of the pulpit by the hair.
He was so ministry driven that I think maybe he should have never gotten married but remained as the Apostle Paul did.

My wife has been out preaching with me before. She has mainly handed out tracks. She is a very soft spoken and shy women around people she does not know very well, let alone in public. When the spirit leads her she says things, but she does not feel the call to preach at this time. If the spirit lead her to become more involved in open air preaching I would encourage her to do so.

I heard that his wife once pulled him out of the pulpit by the hair. He was so ministry driven that I think maybe he should have never gotten married but remained as the Apostle Paul did. This is something that I find in a lot of the great men of GOd of old. They neglected their families. That was definitely one of their flaws. Personally, I think that family is first (after God of course) and ministry is second. The greatest disciples we could have are our own children and spouses! They are our first ministry! This is something I struggle with regularly as I strive to give my whole self to the ministry the Lord has given me....

I think I might agree with you Rev. We cannot neglect our families for the sake of the ministry. Our relationship with God should make for correct relationship with our family.
As far as the question, when and if I get married the home is certainly the first priority of the wife, as Cindy Smock said. I probably will encourage my wife to preach, but I am not necessarily looking for some hot shot female open air preacher to be my wife. I have taken some wise words from a far more mature brother in the Lord. He basically told me not narrow the search to only someone who would be "competitively" more evangelistic than myself. Competing with each other would not be the same as encouraging one another, would not be good for the marriage. But I am not opposed to my wife preaching occasionally. I doubt I would marry someone who is not pretty zealous though. Sharing your faith (in whatever fashion) is a pretty good gauge as to how your walk with the Lord is.
For the record though, I am totally against women pastors. Just wanted to let everyone know that.
But it is kind of late and I will probably read this post later and realize that it needs to be modified because it is not really making a lot of sense.

Being a woman is not easy. You can't just do what the bible says to do when your married. That must be why Paul always pointed out to choose rather to be free if you can.It doesnt matter if your a man, woman or slave, so that you can attend unto the Lord without distraction. I always try to encourage others not to marry if they can.Im going to encourage my kids not to get married and just serve the Lord.I know I get in alot of trouble saying this but Paul did!!!Plus if Im going to get in trouble for saying something I shouldn't than I guess Ive come to the right place LOL!!!!!!!! Im allowed to go to the flea market with our church to witness and pass out tracts with my five kids. With five kids you can cover alot of ground in one day!!!

Interesting question, but God has to put this to task with the individuals, and then they must respond to Him. My wife said she would never preach from a pulpit, let alone open-air. I told her to be careful, because God has a way of putting you to task. I can without a doubt say that today she is the most moving preacher we have on our team (we have 7 preachers - 4 male, 3 female). She preaches with conviction and compassion. I always listen very carefully when she speaks, and the fire of God flows from her. I can feel it in my gut! I would never discourage a woman from preaching open-air, as long as it didn't get too rowdy with hecklers/drunks/thugs (We preach open-air on South Beach-Miami Beach every Saturday, so this kind of crowd is very common). Hope this helps answer your curiosity!

I have no problem with my wife preaching. She preaches with me regularly on South Beach every week and is very good at drawing a crowd and handling the hecklers. I never want to stand in the way of what God is doing.
I have to admit though that sometimes it can be a cross to bear because preaching open air can be dangerous at times. I usually never think about any of this in the heat of battle but in between I sometimes think about how dangerous it can be at times.
You want to be careful sometimes because if you get into a real dangerous situation your concern for the safety of your wife can interfere with your focus on the task at hand.
Also since women tend to be more emotional, if hecklers spot a weakness in your wife or your concern for your wife they will exploit it.

Two of us preach the gospel, one will hopefully start soon and the other two are out in the world serving satan (pray for them). My dad told me yesterday that the only reason that we are saved is because my parents would go in their room, shut the door and travail over our souls. I know you are asking guys, but I think that I would like to remain single althought I am open to whatever God will set before me. If I ever did marry I would like to labor with my husband in preaching the gospel. I would prefer that he would open air but I would tag team if he was tired.

Yea! Another woman preacher! Hopefully I will be able to talk my husband into allowing me to preach some day. Its really tiring just passing out tracts and doing one on one all the time.It does serve it's purpose though. It would be alot more efficient to open air preach.I just pray that God sends the right people my way when I go out witnessing.I just tell myself that for every time there is a season.

You should read some of the accounts of the young ladies who were involved with the Salvation Army (the early years)! Talk about women of God!
Leonard Ravenhill speaks of one young lady who had to serve two jail sentences in two different countries (Belgium and France I believe) for having meetings that blocked the streets! I can't think of her name right away, but if you do a little digging I'm sure you can find many, many amazing accounts of women called by God to stand up and lift their voices like a trumpet!
Catherine Booth (William's wife) herself practically single handedly brought an end to child prostitution in England!

Your husband tells you what you can and cannot do? That's a bit upsetting. There was this woman who was a mother of two of my favorite kids on the swim team I coached. Her husband kept her under lock and key. It was kind of creepy. I really hope you can work this out.

A book I highly recommend is "Created to be His Helpmeet" by Debi Pearl, available at www.NoGreaterJoy.org. My mom is a living testimony of a converted feminazi and that the Bible way just works. She understands submission and authority and the home has not suffered because of it. My parents' marriage and home is better than it ever has been since my mom stopped "wearing the pants" around here. hehe

I invite you to take further discussion to the Feminism thread, Miles. I'm not going to turn a thread started by a member looking for help into a debate. PS: The article about the woman being abused was one of the most frightening things I have ever read. You guys really think that a woman should stay married to someone who beats her, molests her children, and threatens her life? Wow. I really can't trust anyone. This makes me believe with even more certainty that I will never marry (by choice, for those who need clarification).
