Ray Comfort recommends that when people come to your door you give them candy and tracts (which we will do), but what about dressing up and going door-to-door handing out candy & tracts?
I've done this for three years. I dress in something silly, knock on the door and say, "Reverse trick-or-treat! I'm giving out candy this year!" The overwhelming response of the adults has been joy. Every year I hand out approximately 200 tracts by myself! My goal this year is to hand out 1,000 with a group of friends.
The key is to pick candy that adults like; my favorite is Ghiradelli chocolate. A bit more expensive but parents "ooh" and "ahh" and sometimes ask for more. As you walk up to a house, get the candy and the tract ready in hand.
It might be even more effective if the kids dressed up and handed them out with you. They might be even more cute and effective than an adult Ask the kids not to accept candy (we're trying to be generous people). You can reward them with candy when they get home. If everyone dresses up, you can hit two or three times as many homes in the same time
I always choose a "tract in disguise" such as the million dollar bill. It looks like you're giving them candy AND money Perhaps it'd be easier to bag them up in a little baggie, although that can be time-consuming. Or tape them together.
Hit several neighborhoods if your feet can handle it
Know the neighborhood; for instance if there are many seniors I might give out the "Remember when" tract.
Lastly, the method probably won't work two years in a row; each year you should probably hit a new neighborhood. We live in a large city so it would take years to hit all of our neighborhoods. After a while you could return to the neighborhood. If someone is in a small city it would be worth considering driving out to a larger city; to bring one life to the gospel, I would drive
across America!
Remember to leave one adult at home to hand out candy & tracts to kids as Ray recommends. I would probably hand out the "Hey Kids" tracts with GOOD candy - as a kid I used to (ungratefully) despise the people who gave cheap candy. It was sinful, but that's how the mind of a kid works. Perhaps give something like Capri Sun fruit juice pouches. Expensive, but a small price to pay if even one child comes to accept Christ.
Please tell everyone about this; what a great opportunity to hand out
perhaps millions of tracts in one night!
