www.alliancedefensefund.org/news/pressrelease.aspx?cid=4174This is great stuff. A friend on mine, Greg Davis, was arrested last year on a New York State community college. He won the case. He refused to leave a public campus and the admin told him he needed go through the procedures in order to preach. The procedure being getting campus group sponsorship. The video is online somewhere but here is the ADF link about the case. In the article is also a link to the court transcript. That is a great read as well. Blessings, Miles

But....
You must be willing to get arrested.
This can sometimes complicate matters.
I suggest that you always be obedient to the Holy Spirit, and pray diligently BEFORE you decide to preach w/o a required permit.

Kerrigan and I went to UNC Wilmington today and preached.
The administration showed up with some Officers and said we needed a permit. The permit needs to be submitted 24 hours in advance and you are only allowed to speak for 3 hours.
I asked to see the policy. They showed it to me in writing. We said that it was only a school policy and not a state law. So unless we were breaking any laws we would keep preaching without a permit. (You cannot arrest someone for violating a school policy). I said that the only way I would stop preaching was if they showed me an official law that I was breaking.
They left us alone and we were able to preach another 3 hours or so without interruption.
After we finished, the Captain of the Police gave us both "trespassing warnings" and said that if we return within a year we would be arrested for trespassing.
He said that because we didn't follow the school policies we are subjected or liable to trespassing (on the public campus, even though we broke no laws).
So that's my story.

So, Miles, what would you have done in our situation? Would you have stayed on campus today at UNCW and waited until you got arrested? I mean, we were done for the day...at least I was so we were already leaving. But, even if you were done for the day, would you go back before the year was up and get arrested for this? Or would you allow this now to be handled through lawyers and the court? Personally, there are so many campuses to preach at around here where I don't have any problems...I will probably let the courts and lawyers work on this one. BUT, I definitely plan on testing NC State sometime this semester by going to preach on it without a permit. When you find the video, let us know...

"More from Bro. Greg: video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7485846717564072293" I had never seen this video. This is good. You do have to be willing to get arrested. So far I have called the campus's bluff a number of times and I haven't been arrested yet. I do foresee getting arrested in the future though. I also think being very polite and respectful will go a lot farther than any court case will. In your case Kerrigan I would contact ADF and see what they say. It could also be helpful to print off the ADF report about brother Greg's case and keep it with you when you preach. Before returning to the campus I would see what ADF says. I am thinking a return visit is in order though before your one year is up.

Here is a picture of Kerrigan in the very mist of his crimes: exercising free speech without permission (a permit) and trespassing on public property.

I was at eustist Fl at a Thursday flea market ,set up playing Gospel fiddle,,had four women walk up and start preaching to me about joining the SDA,, the older woman was a preachers wife... I said do you teach Jesus is God? she said yes,,,do you teach Jesus is the angel michael ,she answered yes again.. I said then you teach God is the angel michael,,, she started looking crazy and answered yes,,, one of the other women " the youngest said " we dont teach that!" I answer" the Pastors wife just said your church does",, how long have you attended? she said I just started, she said but I dont believe God is michael the angel,,,I told her she had better run and get away from that church,, she said your right,,,, now the Pastors wife went wild and said I just caused this sister to stumble,,, I answered and said your doctrine is a abomination,,, she really got mad and ran away and called the state police ,, about 15 mins later here she comes with the cop,,, I asked what laws have I broke? he said none,, but the cop asked what happened , I explained and said she is welcome to come back with her husband the pastor and I would be glad to share the bible with them,,, she told the cop I caused one of her church members to get up set and also said I called the SDA church a abomination,,, I told the cop it was true,, He just shook his head and started walking away with the nutty women chasing after Him talking a 100 mile a hour.... the Lord kept the doors open at that flea market a couple months until the management started complaining about the sound level,, moved on to better places,,, michael

Miles the fiddle/violin is great for getting attention ,, a lot of people haven't seen played up close.. I also have messed around with button accordions they great and obnoxious ,, lately have been working on slide acoustic guitar in open G tuning,, it has a delta sound with a bottle slide, it seems people really like it best,, far as gospel fiddle you can do fast tunes like I'll fly away or real slow stuff like amazing grace,, I found old recognizable hymns and quick songs work best,, was really surprised at the reaction from spanish people they know those old tunes better than most others,,music is a great way to draw people in open air preaching,,, it brings a person to a position you came speak more on a one to one relationship, instead of the Caruso style of preaching " I think its good too" any how Miles if have any questions about playing fiddle I'd be glad to help...also with hooking up to amplification,, GBU michael

I watched the YouTube video Michael and you are really good with that violin/fiddle. How long have you been playing that for? Have you really been living out of an RV your whole life? If so, I might have some questions for you...

Yeah, I am impressed. When I first read on your site that you travel and sell your cds of you playing fiddle, I was thinking, "man... how does he make a living doing that???" Then I heard you play and saw how you do it at the markets! I was thinking, "If I saw him at a market doing that I would buy your CDs. Man that's good!"
Blessings,
Miles
p.s. Maybe in my travels we will cross paths and we can jam or have a little ramble.

Hi Miles its up in the air,, we change were we go alot,, next weekend we are at hillsville VA at a large laborday week end fleamarket its one of the largest in the east.. several thousand dealers. we might leave there and head to brimfield MA to a large antique show, then if we do that we would end up in eastern PA the next week after,,( I pray for Gods guidance ), because we are able to change where we go my wife and I are always discussing which festival or flea market would be best,, because we have been out here so long we have talked with a bunch of people and know where there are events going on... I had a interesting conversation today in charlot NC with a "get this" converted Jew who is now a member of a large baptist church ,he is also a crimminal defense lawyer,, he was trying to convince me the OSAS is correct,, I kept asking him simple questions about the law and justice "and he kept having flat tires"...like if a judge puts a car thief in Jail ,why would God let a sinning car thief in His kingdom if he will not repent.. would God be unjust Judge if he allowed that? it was kind of funny ,this person could not straight answer I sure wouldnt want him to be my lawyer..
