I have been given the opportunity to have my own radio show on a community radio station here in Sydney. I will be broadcasting from 8pm-11pm every Sunday night. My pastor has given me the opportunity (he wants to step down) to do whatever I want on it.
Lord willing I plan to take over on the 18th of June.
I would ask if you could please be in pray for this and if you have any ideas on what i can have on the show.
I of course want it to be evangelism focused.
Thanks

Since your new to the radio game, let me fill your ear with some basic knowledge I've gained through my years in broadcasting...these are just pointers...
Forward momentum is key...keep the show moving forward...try not to refer to stuff you just talked about...
Over prepare, over prepare, over prepare...you WANT to have too much to talk about.
Talk into the microphone, and don't forget your headphones.
Be prepared to hit your delay dump button...if you don't know what it is...be sure to ask station managment. In case a caller curses or something, you'll want to know how to make sure it doesn't hit the air. I'm not sure what the FCC rules are like down unda'...but if you let someone curse on the air here in the states, the OPERATOR is liabel, not the station.
It's good to have an assistant/producer in the studio there to help, bring someone along if possible.
Get in there before the show and get as familiar with the studio and its operation as possible.
RECORD THE ENTIRE SHOW...make sure you find out how to put it on tape, cd, or digital, and please post it so we can all listen, yo!
Have fun, if you make a mistake, don't make a big deal out of it. One skill in radio is the ability to turn a mistake into a joke.
Will you be taking calls?

I really appreciate your advice.
I went to the station last night and got used to how things work etc.
The station doesn't have the facillities for talk back. I can only talk to callers off air.

The other day there was an article in the newspaper about the religious radio shows on Sunday night. These preachers are as liberal as can be. I decided to use this as an advertisement for our show: Praise God that I have a team of 5 that are willing to help me out. I went on air last Sunday night to advertise the show and Lord willing SWAT Radio will begin this Sunday night.

Does the station have a web site? Streaming?

Yes, they certainly are liberal. One of them is even the principal of the local Baptist Union Theological seminary.
I am so thankful the Lord led me to an Independent Fundamental Baptist church.
Good on ya, Jonathan.
Can't wait to hear some Biblical truth on the airwaves of Sydney.

25th June, 2006
Tonight we had an awesome time on the radio. We played some OA audio of when we went witnessing in the city (the Catholic march). We had a man ring up who was in the march and av1611 was able to share the gospel with him on the phone. Pray for Luke! We had a Pastor ring up and tell us that him and his church were listening and found everything to be really encouraging.
Despite a few mishaps... DocH dropped the phone, av1611 dismantled a microphone ;D all went smoothly. All glory to God!

9th July, 2006After having the week off last week (we were replaced ) we were back in action tonight. We had a discussion on how we got our bible (av1611 took control of this ) and discussed some false prohecies of Benny Hinn and his recent crusade here in Sydney. We had a phone call from Paul who said that because of the show he is more determined to go out soul winning. Praise God! I would like to read your glory stories over the air to encourage the folk here in Sydney. So if you could email them to me I would appreciate it. Thanks swatradio@gmail.com

16th July, 2006I started the show with Caleb, because DocH and av1611 came down with Hinn Syndrome (we discussed Benny Hinn last week and Hinn stated that if anyone talks against his ministry then he would place a curse on them). DocH and av1611 came in a little later in the night. av1611 continued his study on how we got our bible. After his message we got a phone call from Greg. He said that he would go out the next day and buy a KJV (he was using a modern version) Praise God! We also discussed what took place when we took a team out witnessing on Friday night and played some OA audio. I have included a few photos of us in action: Discussing Friday night Myself interviewing Caleb and DocH av1611 having fun

23rd July, 2006Tonight we had a special guest all the way from Nashville, Tennesse. Chris Stansell and his son Jonathan were visiting churches in Australia. They were at our church on Sunday so I invited them to come on the radio. Bro Stansell is an evangelist and has produced his own music cd's. It was a real blessing having him and his son in the studio with us. chrisstansellministries.org/index.shtml

30th July, 2006
Tonight we discussed many things in such a short time. We started off with the war in Israel and Lebanon. We had to be careful what we said due to certain restrictions. I then discussed an article which was in the newspaper that stated that Jenolan Caves (in Australia) are the oldest caves in the world (300-400 million years old) based on Potassium/Argon dating methods.
DocH reviewed the "Warcry Magazine" (Salvation Army) in which it stated that there was nothing wrong with listening to the Beatles.
We finished the night off by saying a final goodbye to av1611 (see thread SWAT Team Down a Member).

As far as I am aware the Macaroni's were not God or Jesus Christ haters.
Mr Lennon is on record saying that 'Jesus Christ was a garlic eating Jewish****'
The Beatles claimed to be more popular than Jesus Christ.
George Harrison was into Eastern Mysticism and sang about Hare Krishna in 'sweet lord'.
They were drunkards, drug users, fornicators, idolators and blasphemers to boot and helped many along their way to hell.
I don't believe that General or Catherine Booth would have endorsed the Beatles.
You can't be a true Christian and love the Beatles at the same time.
It's an oxymoron!

neat-o. this is my one thousandth post. how about that?
doc h, you can enjoy a band's music without 'loving' the group--or its message. in fact, most people are unaware of the true message of any band. songs have a different meaning to the individuals who listen to it. they interpret it through experience, and so they may not see the evil that other people may see which is also a product of experience. a good example of this is a child singing the lyrics to a song that is profane. the adult figure, or parent, scolds the child and reprimands him/her from singing that song. the child asks, "why?" out of innocence, and not because they are in league with satan.
adults can express innocence in the form of ignorance. my sister is twenty years old, and she is ignorant of a lot of 'sin' and 'sinful terminology.' why? she is a christian. she does not let negative things enter her head, or she refuses to expose herself to such things. this is her decision, and i respect that.
however, i let her listen to some secular music one day. she had no idea what it was talking about, and what she interpreted of the lyrics she was able to understand...she thought to be religious. she loved it. i told her it was secular and she turned it off.
people who 'love' the beatles as you put it are not in league with satan. you do not know the people, or the intent of their heart. this should be common sense to you. after all, YOU are the christian.
i think that in conclusion my point is this: musicians all have their own personal agenda. the music is not the musician, and the listener is not the musician..if you follow the logic. macaroni is a food product, and not a band, by the way. haha. i stated it out of sarcasm because christians like to discard everything as 'evil.'

I was talking about those who profess to be Christians. Unless you are born again God will not put a "new song in your heart". Why don't you just repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour? Many on this board have been pleading with you to get saved. What's stopping you?
i think that in conclusion my point is this: musicians all have their own personal agenda. the music is not the musician, and the listener is not the musician..if you follow the logic.
Oh, I do understand the logic but you are way off base or is it bass? Study the Bible and you will see what God has to say about music.

So macaroni is a food product, how silly of me I must have got confused with the 'Pasta' rock band or was it the 'Parmesan's'?
