It is curious that some of the most vocal of Christians on the board have never actually taken the time as long as this thread has been up to actually come here and tell their stories as to what they were before and how they cam,e to find Christ. The nonchristians seem to be more open than the Christians here and it is sad also that the ones who really struck me as the most captivating have been banned or left.
I was born in a small town called Moundsville, West Virginia and you can do anything you want there, but there is nothing to do. When kids get bold enough they head for Wheeling or even Pittsburgh and up here a whole new and ugly world opened up for me. That is where I discovered an alternative lifestyle, so to speak and for a time thought I enjoyed it. In my college days, now behind me and I will not say where, I discovered gays ex, drugs and alcohol, but was always slick enough never to get arrested for anything. God, however, saw all.
Caring people actually continued to talk to me and convinced me to go to a strong, Bible believing Baptist church . Trust me, the anti-gay or anti-sin rants of some of these street preacher guys are well intending but it never would have worked on someone like me or those I know.
I felt the draw of the spirit of God and answered it, though I tried to run. I even left the actual pew and headed for a bathroom, but some godly people followed me and helped me fight the demons that did not want me to make that altar call. I looked into a mirror int he bathroom and literlaly hated what I had become,. I cried to be made clean! I felt the vile filth of my sin weighing me down, I had been so caught up in it, I never even gave it second thought until that sermon.
Oh, I have stumbled. People are warned that sin will call you back and unless you remain strong in Christ, you will return to it like a dog to his own vomit. It is not always so easy to stay clean. The grace of God is there for you though if you repent.
That is the short form of my story, nonchristians.
May you find a good biblical church and hear the word as I did. May you come to God.
And remember, the temptation and sin abounds around you and you must avoid the traps or you will be sucked in.
I praise God for Pastor Powell and his wife Willetta (She hates that name and goes by Willa, as in Willow minus the W). I pray for Rachel and other friends whoa re true believer in Christ. I pray for the salvation of lost people I know of who are in sin ir have sinned with me in the past. I pray for the street preachers as while their messages might not have worked with me,t here are people who will come to God by hearing them,.
